Aqua Sphere Challenger

This year is my first season training for Triathlon and in these cold climates one thing that is a necessity is a wet suit. Over the last few months I have been regularly using the Aqua Sphere Challenger.  Overall I am very pleased with this product and it’s a good Mid level suit at a very reasonable price.

Aqua Sphere is an Italian company celebrating 20 years in the industry this year at their conception they focused on developing top quality eye wear for swimmers including the Seal Swim Mask. Over the last few years they have expanded that dramatically to include a wide range of products including Training Aids, Wetsuits, Aqua Skins and swim accessories. They pride themselves on their product innovation and work closely with elite athletes to ensure they are always improving their products.

As I mentioned earlier the Aqua Sphere Challenger would be classed as a Mind Range Suit sitting between the Persuit and the Phantom at a very reasonable price of £269 it comes with a pretty impressive specification for that price. The challenger has been upgraded to include Yamamoto 39 neoprene across the entire suit. This greatly increases your comfort while on the water. Bio-Stretch Zone is also included in this suit this gives you a massive advantage in the water while kicking your legs or extending your stroke allowing you to propel yourself through the water quicker due to the wide range of motion you get from the Bio Stretch. This is achieved by Aqua Sphere placing 2mm panels under the arm and the lower back. The 4mm Aqua Drive core panel increases your buoyancy and decreases drag helping you achieve the optimal position in the water.

One of my big worries when branching into Triathlon was putting the suit on and removing it during transition to the bike. I do need assistance getting myself zipped into the suit that’s never a problem as there is always someone willing to give a helping hand. Removing the suit is never an issue the easy quick release ankles and pull zipper allows you to remove the suit easily and quickly. I do like to add some wet suit lubricant to the ankle and wrist but there really is no need for that.

If your looking for a comfortable, Well built suit at a reasonable price this is a good option. I am 5″9 and 14 stone and the Large suit is the perfect fit for me but I am an XL in others so please try on the suit before you purchase it if at all possible.
