CamelBak was founded in 1989, the company was the brain child of Michael Eidson while he was competing in the Hotter’n Hell 100 bicycle race in Wichita Falls Texas. Michael Eidson who was an emergency medical technician by trade, decided to fill an IV bag with water and put it in a sock. He then pinned the sock to the back of his jersey, then drapped the tube over his shoulder, and secured it with a clothes pin. He invested his life savings in his idea and brough the product to market and after some initial dificulties the product range sales skyrocketed. Camelbak is now one of the most popular water bottle companies in the world with a huge fanbase of cyclists, runners and mountain bikers.
As a runner for many years I have used a huge vareiety of CamelBak products and this review is of the Quick Grip Chill™ Handheld 21 oz. When racing or training no matter what the distance I always like to have water with me so a handheld product or hydration pack is a must.
The CamelBak Quick Grip Chill™ Handheld 21 oz is an excellent product. I have used this on a variety of runs across road and trail over a variety of distances and it has never let me down. It comes with a Podium Chill(TM) 21 oz that is an excellent product that keeps water ice cold on your long runs.
Its really easy to open and seal shut even wearing gloves and has high-flow stream via Jet Valve™ technology. The CamelBak Quick Grip Chill™ Handheld 21 oz sits perfectly in your hand and does not slip out when you are wet from sweat or rain. The hand held storage has a really nice Pocket capable of holding my Samsung Galaxy S23 phone or a couple of Gels for your long runs. It also has some really nice reflective detailing on it to provide some added safety running at night.
All Podium series bottles are made primarily from TruTaste polypropylene, a proprietary blend of polypropylene. This is food-safe and taste-free. This really keeps the bottle nice and fresh and your water tasting clean and pure. I would use a variety of electrolytes in my water to help replace salt lost during training and this has has no effect on the taste of the water, it’s also very easy to take apart and clean and drip dry.
The CamelBak Quick Grip Chill™ Handheld comes in a variety of colours including Black/Safety Yellow, Captain’s Blue/Spicy Orange, Corsair Teal and Silver/Dusk. I got the Captain’s Blue/Spicy Orange the colours are identical to that of my local Triathlon Club that I am a member of which is a nice little bonus.
