I did not know what to expect from the recent range of products from Columbia that I have had the pleasure of reviewing. I always associated Columbia as a premium Ski and Hiking supplier but having looked closer at a variety of their products I have been very pleasantly surprised.
The jacket, Columbia’s Rainstormer, is constructed with Omni-Wick EVAP™ advanced evaporation, Omni-Tech™ waterproof/breathable fully seam sealed, attached stow-away hood with peripheral adjustability, drawcord adjustable hem, a drop tail and waterproof zip closed pockets.
I really like the Columbia’s Rainstormer Jacket, the first thing I noticed was how light it was at just under 13 ounces. I found the jacket to be very comfortable, breathable and 100 % waterproof. I have run with this jacket several times over the last few weeks in a variety of weather conditions across a variety of distances. In the rain this jackets stands up better than any I have used before, no matter how heavy the shower you will stay completely dry. Living on the coast heavy winds can be an issue but the Rainstormer has no problem standing up to the winds. On the sunny days you realise very quickly how light and breathable this jacket is.
The jacket comes in a variety of colours, you can use it running, hiking and cycling and would not look out of place on your daily commute. The two pockets on the jacket are extremely large, I would have also liked a breast pocket to accommodate gels and maybe an MP3 player. As I said above, I really like this jacket and would highly recommend it to anybody looking for a lightweight and truly waterproof jacket that won’t let you down no matter the weather, no matter the task.
