I am very new to Triathlon and at the start of the season I decided not to purchase a new TT Bike Instead I invested my money in my Cannondale synapse carbon ultegra disc road bike. To ensure I got the best from my bike there were a few changes I wanted to make one was the swapping of my road saddle with a Triathlon specific saddle when training and competing in Triathlon events. One other bike change was the addition of Aero Bars. I wanted to add a pair of clip on bars that can be added and removed easily depending on circumstances. Over the last few months I have been using the Deda Elementi Parabolica Uno bar Clip On Bars and have been very happy with the new addition.
Deda Elementi Is an Italian bicycle equipment manufacturer that produces handlebars, pedals, seat posts and wheels. The company was founded by two brothers Luca and Stefano Locatelli in Campagnola Cremasca, Italy the company has a great reputation for listening and acting on their customers feedback and they aim to create top quality products at a great price.
The purpose of the Deda Elementi Parabolica Uno bar Clip On Bars is to allow you the cyclist to achieve the most aerodynamic position possible while competing in Triathlon and TT events. Being in the correct aerodynamic position on the bike allows the rider to avail of reduced wind resistance and sitting in a more forward position enables the cyclist to generate more power. The Deda Elementi Parabolica Uno Clip On Bars were pretty easy to fit to the bike but does require some tweaking at the start to insure they were in the correct position for me. The bars are very well made and consist of three key components; the extension bar itself that is made with a hollow alloy, this then attaches to the cockpit of your bike via an alloy clamp and a steel armrest with self adhesive velcro strap that attaches on to arm pads. I found the pads to be very comfortable whenever I have used them.
I have used the Deda Elementi Parabolica Uno bar Clip On Bars on many occasions over the last two months including two Triathlon events and found them to be a great benefit and as I am new to the sport I suspect that that benefit will only get greater over time. Getting used to the bars has taken time at the start I would drop into them for a short period of time on a straight, even stretch of road staying in the aerodynamic position for a minute or two and building that up over time and then adjusting back into standard cycling position. This movement alone requires some practice so the more time you do it the better you will get. I would also suggest focusing on changing gears, breaking , drinking and eating in an aero position. You notice over time when is the appropriate time to use aero bars and working going up hills is not one of them its much safer to come back up from them during that time.
Deda Elementi Parabolica Uno bar Clip On Bars are an excellent solution if you want to increase your aerodynamic efficiency position on your bike . They’re well made, light and great value for money. In my opinion adding aero bars is the single most effective change you can make to your bike. I highly recommend the Deda Elementi Parabolica Uno bar Clip On Bars for anybody planning a Time Trial or Triathlon event.
