This year I want to focus more of my attention on trail running, with that in mind I decided to look for an alternative running shoe dedicated to trail running. Hoka One One are noted for their light weight and maximal cushioning and a company I have always had a keen interest in, so I decided to try out there RAPA NUI 2 Trail and was not disappointed.
At a weight of 10.3 OZ the RAPA NUI 2 Trail felt extremely light weight, they’re very comfortable, a good fit, accurate to size and with the 3.5mm lugs they have great grip under foot even on the most uneven and slippery of surfaces. While running on trails in the past I found that I felt every stone I stood on, this is not a problem with the RAPA NUI 2 Trail due to its additional cushioning. Hoka One One running shoes are designed with a midsole that is up to two and a half times the volume of most standard running shoes this allows for the extra shock absorption and comfort on the trails.
The RAPA NUI 2 Trail has a 5mm heel to toe drop and comes with Meta Rocker technology this assists the runner with their gait improving overall running mechanics and assisting the recovery. I won’t lie the thickness of the soles were strange at first but to me the additional cushioning really felt great on the trail.
They have a very comfortable collar and are pre laced with speed laces that you attach to a cleat, no need to tie them and no dangling ends to annoy. They won’t agree with everyone but I really like them and they come with a second pair of standard laces.
I really like the RAPA NUI 2 Trail and would highly recommend them to anyone looking to concentrate more on trail running. They took a small bit of getting used to but stick with them and you won’t look back.
