The Icebreaker MerinoLOFT Helix Zip is jacket that can be used on its own all year round or as medium layer with a hard shell for hiking in extreme conditions or skiing.

The Helix comes with MerinoLOFT™ because of that you have a highly insulted, warm jacket capable of withstanding the coolest of conditions. The Helix Jacket is also very breathable with the Merino wool lining providing a very cosy feel. The Helix Jacket has two zipper hand pockets on the front and one internal zip pocket. The hood on the jacket is also lined with wool and keeps your head nice and warm when pulled up. The Thumb loops on the sleeves come in very handy on days when you need to wear gloves.

I have been using this jacket for many weeks in the typical Irish winter weather of wind, cold and rain. I have used it on its own, as a medium layer with a hard shell jacket and more often than not paired with the excellent Quantum Long sleeve zip hood. The merino wool in the lining is extremely warm and comforting. The pockets on the front are great as well as being the right size to carry all your essentials including Buff, gloves, and the material within the pocket keeps your hands nice and warm. The internal stash pocket is the perfect size to hold your media devices and the media cord port comes in very handy for passing your headphones to your ears without any fuss. All zippers on the jacket come with very handy cord attached to them that allows you to use them very easily with or without gloves. The Helix is very light and can be packed up small and easily stored in your backpack. Although the jacket is not waterproof it still stands up to the heavy rain showers we get in Ireland and is yet to let me down. It also dries really quickly when hung from your jacket rail.

I have used this jacket regularly and really like it. It can be used casually on a hike, run and equally on a social trip out with your friends. The jacket comes in a variety of colours and sizes from s- xxl.
