I have been really looking forward to reviewing the SEO 7R from LED Lenser. Over the last few months I have used this on many night runs in a variety of weather conditions and I have been very impressed with it.

The SEO 7R is the top of the SEO range rechargeable head torch from Led Lenser. Depending on the mode you select you can get up to 220 Lumen, 20 hours burning life and 130 meter beam distance, you should get 5 hours battery life at 220 lumen and 20 hours at 20 lumens .The led Lenser SEO 7R comes with a rechargeable Lithium battery that is charged through your USB Mains charger supplied with the product. The Head torch comes with Optisense technology that senses the light in your surroundings and adjusts the light to your situation, this has the added benefit to allow you to save battery life. The head on the SEO 7R Is adjustable and rotates down to a 90 degree angle, that with the advanced focus system that allows you to adjust from wide beam to flat depending on your circumstance. The white LED comes with 4 lighting modes from full beam to Pulse setting something I think would be excellent at drawing attention in an emergency situation. You can also use the red beam that seems to be pretty useful for fishing at night, the red beam also comes with a pulse mode that again would be useful in an emergency situation. The SEO 7R has a fully adjustable headband that is designed to be comfortable and can be easily put in the wash when needed.

I have used the SEO 7R on several runs on the road, trail and woods and it has never let me down. I normally run with the headtorch on wide beam to light up the foot path when running with my local running group and have been amazed by the amount of my running buddies who have commented on the quality of lighting from the product. I would normally run on full beam but I find the three other modes are all extremely useful in their own right. I have not had reason to use the red beam but as mentioned earlier I think it would be very useful for night fishing.  The Optisense technology is an excellent addition to this head torch if out running at night in from a well-lit area with the headtorch set to 20 lumens into a dark park the torch will automatically adjust the light output to allow for optimal visibility. When charging your SEO 7R you have a red light to show that the battery is being charged this will change to green when fully charged you also have the added ability to use 3 aaa batteries something I think is very useful on multi day events when charging a battery is simply not possible. This head torch is extremely light at 105 gms. The head strap is very comfortable and comes with a very handy carbineer that can be used to attach to a belt or back pack.

The SEO 7R truly is an excellent head torch. Led Lenser have thought of everything and it’s without doubt the best head torch I have ever used. I would highly recommend this to any runner, hiker,  climber and outdoor enthusiast in general.
