Having just branched into Triathlon and investing in my new bike the Cannondale Synapse Carbon Ultegra disc, I decided to focus on increasing the aerodynamics and comfort of the bike and gear it more towards competing in Triathlon than road racing. One of the first items I decided to upgrade was the saddle and over the last few weeks I have been using the Prologo Tgale TT regularly and have been very pleased with the upgrade.
Prologo is an Italian company and an industry leader that produces top quality saddles, grips and handlebar tapes that are used by many of the top professional athletes in the world including Sebastian Kienle. Prologo pride themselves on learning from their many years of experience allowing them to create superior products to be enjoyed by all of us. They work closely with the research and development departments to create products such as their patented CPC to ensure optimum performance and comfort when out on the road.
Giulio Molinari is one of the best triathletes in the world and he is a big fan of the Prologo Tgale TT and it’s his saddle of choice when competing in triathlon and Iron man events. His endorsement was not lost on me and I have been really looking forward to putting this through it paces. The Prologo Tgale TT is aimed specifically at people focused on Triathlon & Time Trial events. The saddle is 240mm x 128mm and the nose is a full 4cm shorter than traditional saddles allowing you to get yourself into a much more Aerodynamic position than your traditional saddles.
CPC – Connect Power Control (Air Cooling, Grip and Position, Vibration and Shock Absorption) is a patented technology developed by Prologo is positioned cleverly in a variety of points in the saddle to help absorb vibrations and shocks while on the road. CPC also helps by wicking heat and sweat away from the saddle adding to your comfort. The saddle is waterproof and has some really clever pieces of fabric at the nose of the saddle to stop you slipping which is hugely helpful when hopping on the bike in a wet Triathlon suit after the swim. My Prologo Tgale TT has Tirox Rails is created with a light but very strong alloy allowing you to feel safe and secure while in the saddle.
Having used this regularly used the Prologo Tgale TT over the last few weeks most recently at the Athy Triathalon I have been very impressed. I am always worried about trying out new saddles for me comfort is very important and the Tgale certainly is very comfortable. I do not have a TT Bike so put it on my Cannondale synapse carbon ultegra disc. It was very easy to fit all you need is a 5mm hex key and some patience to get it in the correct position for you. The saddle coupled with my Deda aero bars allowed me get into the optimum aero position and achieve my fastest time yet in my recent triathlon.
It can be adapted to allow you to add the Prologo U-Cage at the back of the saddle I think this is a great addition and will allow you to store your hydration, CO2, energy food or gels in aerodynamic manner. In the past during my training I found my saddle to be very slippy when cycling on it with wet shorts, because of the smart design of the Tgale TT and the fabric on the nose of it this is no longer an issue this is a big plus as far as I am concerned from a comfort and more importantly safety point of view. The saddle had plenty of padding in all the correct places adding to the comfort when out on the road To date my longest ride on this saddle has been just over the two hour mark but I have no doubt that it will stand up to the longest of journeys.
The Tgalle TT comes in two colours mine the nero being the nicest in my opinion. .I would highly recommend this saddle for anybody TT or triathlon events and its without doubt one of the best TT Saddles in the market my plan going forward is to have best of both worlds the Tgale TT for Triathlon and the very impressive Prologo dimension for any road racing or sportif.
